Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page of Rathgar Junior School. Below, you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about our school, admissions process, curriculum, policies, and more. If you have a question that's not answered here, please don't hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to do so.
How do I enrol?
You can enrol your child by contacting admin@rathgarjuniorschool.com or telephoning 01-4972411. Alternatively you can download one of our application forms and email it to the above address.
Can I come and Visit?
Of course! We welcome all visitors. By contacting the office using the details above, you can arrange a private tour with our Principal, Mr. Charles Chambers at your convenience.
Can my child visit?
Yes, we welcome all children on the tour and would encourage it. We also offer complimentary taster days for children so they can spend time in the class that your are interested in them joining.
Do you offer before school or after school care?
School doors open at 8:10am every morning and your child will be fully supervised from that time until lessons start. We have an after school care service, ‘Kids Club’ which is open from 1pm – 5:45pm every day. There are also many before school and after school clubs which your child can enrol in.
Are you a feeder school to any Secondary Schools?
We are an official feeder school to The High School in Rathgar and have built very good relationships with many other, Independent Secondary Schools.
What sport is on offer?
From September until April, we play hockey at Three Rock Rovers Hockey Club. From April until June we play Summer Games at CYM in Terenure. This involves: athletics, rounders, football, cricket and many other sports. All of our sport is coached by trained sports coaches.
How many children are in a class?
We limit our class sizes to 22 children to ensure that every child receives plenty of 1:1 attention from their teacher.
How much are the school fees?
€5,500 per year. This is split between 3 payments throughout the academic year.
Do you follow the National Curriculum?
We follow the full National Curriculum but we are also able to add more. Within our staff we have a specialist Irish teacher, Music teacher and French and Spanish teacher. This means that children get to benefit from high quality, professional and engaging lessons.
What extra-curricular activities are on offer?
We are constantly expanding our extra-curricular offering and so no year is exactly the same. We offer many clubs from sport science, construction, coding, dance, sewing, chess, capoeira, playball, drama and many, many more.
